FIFA World Cup 2014: Ecuador vs France 42th Match in Pictures
Glass half full, or half empty? After the 0-0 draw between Ecuador and France in Rio, each team had reason to argue that question.
France, which had scored eight goals in its first two games, fiddled and faddled, and while the French peppered the Ecuadorian defense constantly, their shots either skittered wide of the net, or went tamely straight at the goalkeeper, or deflected off defenders. Thus they failed to win all three games of their group — but they won the group, and move on to play Nigeria in the Round of 16. They didn’t need to win this game.
