Colombian Singer Shakira Opens New School in her home Country
Colombian singer Shakira returned to her home country of
Colombia to inaugurate the school funded by her non-profit foundation, Pies
Descalzos (Bare Feet). Hundreds of
people lined the street leading to the school on Monday as Shakira walked up
from her car carrying Milan, her one-year-old son with FC Barcelona soccer star
Gerard Pique.
The school and community center, located in the low-income
neighborhood of Lomas del Peye in Cartagena, the tourist destination in the
Atlantic Coast of Colombia, will serve 1,700 needy children ranging from day
care to high school age.
"I hope Milan can get his Colombian passport during the
trip," Shakira told Billboard, this was Milan's first visit to Colombia. At
the end of the day, Milan gets his new Colombian passport.
