World Solar Challenge Solar Car Race

Australian entry Arrow1 from Team Arrow crossing the start line in the World Solar Challenge in Darwin.  Last held in 2011, the epic 3,000-kilometre (1,860-mile) solar car race across the Australian outback was led out by Team Eindhoven from the Netherlands in their four-seater car Stella, one of eight competitors in the new Cruiser class which aims to showcase solar technology for mainstream vehicles.
