Cockfighting (Murgh Janghi) in Afghanistan
Two fighting roosters go at each other in a fighting ring on the outskirts of Kabul on December 27, 2013. Even though Afghanistan is one of the poorest countries in the world where 1 in 3 people live in poverty betting on animal fights is a favoured pastime of many Afghans. Cockfighting, known as “Murgh Janghi” In the Afghan Dari language, is a popular game among Afghans during the winter season which was banned by the Taliban rulers.
